MAILS FROM BRITAIN.
BETTER SERVICE REQUIRED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Received May 8, 12.5 a.m. London. May 8. In reference to the Australian cables concerning the irregular arrival of English mails, the postal authorities informed the Australian Press Association that it is impossible to effect an improvement until there is a better service of steamers on the Suez route. The authorities, before despatching mails, carefully consider sailinas by all routes, including South Africa and Panama, but t'ne pre-war mail route generally offered the quickest service. It is- rarely worth while to utilise the Xew Zealand-Panama vessels for Australian mail?.—Aus.-NZ. Cable Assn.
