CRISIS IN JAPAN.
HEAVY FALL IN VALUES. By Telegraph.—PreS3 assn.—Copyright. Received May 7, 11.35 p.m. Tokio, May 6. Dry goods houses at Osaka and Kyoto are reducing prices fifty per cent, in order to liquidate their stocks. Many reports from weaving centres announce a suspension of' work and a serious curtailment of production in order to keep prices stable. It is considered that if a protracted period of depression follows the present financial stringency, Japan wil.l, for the first time, have to face a seTious unemployment question, and aggravation of labor unrest.—Aus.-N.Z.
