Palmer (the Attorney-General) announced the Reds have marked a large number of State and Federal ofiicials and other prominent men for assassination on May 1, as part of a- general strike demonstration. The Department of Justice is taking all precautions to protect those whose lives are threatened. It is understood the Communist party and the IW.W. are co-operating in a scheme to force the United States to recognise the Soviet in Russia-—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
