STRIKE IN OIL STORES.

MORE PAY WANTED. By Telegraph —Press Association. Wellington, April 20. Men employed in the oil stores declined to work to-day, because of the oil companies' refusal to grant their demand for increased rates. The men state it has been the practice for 14 years to pay the same rates as those ruling for casual labor on the wharf. They demanded the same increases as those which were recently granted to the watersijjers, but the companies offer Zs per hour, which is Id more than that provided for storemcn under the storemen's award. The Britisli Imperial Co. is not at present affected by the dispute. A deadlock Ims now arisen, and the position is being discussed bv the companies.
