THE PRINCE'S VISIT.
THE OFFICIAL PROGRAMME. COMPLETE ARRANGEMENTS, Yevy careful attention is being given by the local committee to the arrange* mentis for the visit of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales to New Plymouth, and it is now possible to give a complete account of what is planned and the waj' the programme is to be carried out on the morning of Friday, the 30th inst. The llrst arrivals in town are expected to be the school children from the country districts, who are to reach New Plymouth by 8 a.m. at the'latest- Those arriving by train from the Waitara and fnglewood districts will detrain near the East .End Reserve and will march to the Recreation Grounds, entering by the Gilbert Street gate. Major Sandford will be in charge of these arrangements. Those arriving !«'■ town by motor vehicles will assemble at the Workers' iSocial Hall and march from there to, the Recreation • Grounds, via Carrington" Roadi Mr. 0. J. JElowarth superintending these children- The scholars of the / Fitn-oy and Central schools ere to ai« , - semble on the Central School grounds and those of the West End at their own school, arid they will march to the Recreation Grounds under the control of their teachers, entering by the Gilbert Street gate. The children wilj be assembled in the centre of the playing area of the grounds and formed up in a design of the Prince of Wales' feathers, worked out in colors. ! The materials for this will be supplied to the children on the ground, free of charge. ARRANGEMENTS AT THE PARK, Tlietfe arrangements apply only to children of tho 3rd standard and upwards. It is proposed to provide accommodation for 2nd standard children on the northern terrace, which will place them immediately behind the Royal pavilion. Mrs. Hugh Baily will superintend these children. The girls of the High .School will enter by the corrugated iron gale on Fillis Street in the northeast corner of the grounds and along the eastern terrace will form the word "welcome," while those of the Technics! College will enter by the main gate, and on the southern terrace form the letters "H.R.H." These children will be assembled by their own teachers as directed.
The Prince's stand will be at the north end of the oval where the football goal posts stand. On either side the returned soldiers, veterans and nurses will be lined up in four iiles. The representatives of the local bodies will be' ao. oommodated on a stand to the east of that on which the Prince is, and the mothers of deceased soldiers will also have special seats on that side. Holders of tickets for these seats will enter by the main entrance. The Park Board are providing seating accommodation for about 3000 people on a stand on the western side of tho Royal dais, these seats being for sale at 10s each. Close to these the band will be placed, and immediately behind the band, on reserved seats on the western terrace will be the massed choir. The public, will have free access to all the other Available space on the terraces. They are asked to enter by the north-eastern gate, and fill up the eastern and south- '
ern terraces first; and those in white costumes are requested to place themselves nlongsido the schools girls, who will ho in their blue dresses, and forming their particular display designs. The public are asked to be in their places on the ground not later than 8.30, and it may hp said there will be a good deal of interest in the making up of the displays by the school children.
THE PRINCE'S MOVEMENTS. The Prince will arrive at the station at, 8.55. All the approaches to the station will, be barricaded off and traffic; along the route to be followed will be entirely suspended until after the departure of the Royal train. The High School will provide 100 cadets as a Guard of Honor outside the station. The Prince will be received by the Mayor and councillors, and after inspecting the (iiiard will proceed to the Recreation Grounds, via St. Aubyn, Queen, Devon and Linrdct streets. When the Royal car readies the dais the six bars of the National Anthem will be played. The addresses will then be presented and His Royal" Highness will present war honors to lj recipients. He will then inspect the returned soldiers, veterans and nurses and also the school children, It is suggested that the singing by the massed choir and children shall take place at certain stages of this Inspection, The public are invited to join in the singing, and free copies of the pieces to be sung will be available, on Friday of this week.
From the Becreation Grounds the Prince will proceed, to the Boys' Hifch School, via the racecourse, and there lie will inspect a parade of SenioT and High School cadets and Boy Scouts, after which morning tea will he dispensed to the Prince and his suite by the Mayoress and her committee of ladies. The Prince will return from the High School to the railway station, via Eliot, Devon, Queen and St. Aubvn streets, departing from New Plymouth at 11 a.m. It should be pointed out that military sports are to be held at the High School on that day, and admission to the grounds will be one shilling. r „ out f f , or tlic Royal procession will be freely decorated, but citizens are invited to decorate premises along the route as profusely as possible. During the time the traffic is suspended, the trams from Fitzroy will run to Gover Street only, and those from the Breakwater to the Terminus Hptel.
