"Don't you think I've got enough to do already?" he replied to the reporter's query "Surely Public Works : and Postmaster-General is enough to keep tne busy without adding defenie to my job." Mn Ooates added that he had heard nothing about the matter since leaving Wellington, and in any case he would not be able to say anything until he got back there.
