LABOR AT HOME.

DEMANDS FOR MORE PAY. By Telesraph.—Press As3n..—Copyright. London, April IS. The largest trade unions arc demanding further substantial increases in wages, based on the increases to miners anil dockers. The secretary of the National Union of Kailwaymen, explaining the Union's demand for an additional 20s weekly, states that it must not be confused with the sliding scale of wages based on the increased cost of living accepted in January.

Although the settlement was comparatively recent, they thought it right to raise the standard rate in view of the Government having given the miners an additional 2s daily and the standardisation of dockers' wages at lfis daily. "You cannot," he added, "separate one industry from another in these days. It is the railway-men's duty to see that the rates are advanced' to correspond to the charges in other industries.*'— Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn.
