WAITARA.

(Prom Our Own Correspondent.)' April 13. Mr. Moore, drcetor of the Technical College, New Plymouth, was n Waitara yesterday, investigating a case of "ragging" that occurred recently amongst the Technical scholars travelling to school. Mr. S. G. Fraser, who has been laid up for a few days, was able to attend his business for an hour or two yesterday, but he is still feeling a bit shaky. The largest sum paid to the Borough Council by the Harbor Board was handed over this week, being half share of endowment rents, amounting to £2IU 3s 3d. Mr. Gould, the new minister of Knox I Church, officiated at all the services on Sunday last. He hoped that by co-opera-tion of the people the church work which had been carried on so successfully during Mr. Perkins' time would still go on just as successfully. The regular fortnightly meeting of the Clifton Lodge of Druids was •held - on Monday evening, presided over by A.D. Bro. V. Pennington. A letter was received from the "editor" of the "Druidic Gazette,'' stating that after a lapse of four years, owing to war conditions, it was their intention to resuscitate that journal.—Resolved that every assistance be given, and that Secretary Bird be ap-

pointed correspondent. The district president, i-lec , Unit her J. ('. ILnnehiird. was ably installed by P.RP. brother .1. \V. Laing. At this juncture the electric light went out, and Brother Feck favored those present witli items on the, piano. Six new members were proposed for membership, and the Lodge adjourned. It is reported that owing to the consumers of the eleciris light using same unfairly is the reason the engineer switching the light off to give wanikif. and also to save the plant overloading. To my idea it is an unsafe practice, as a doctor may be in the middle of an operation, and serious consequences might occur.
