AWAKINO DOG TRIALS.

CONCLUDING DAY'S RESULTS. The AwaVino Dog Trials were brought to a successful conclusion yesterday, in fine but cold weather. The attendance, though not so large as on previous occasions, was very fair. The competitions were very interesting throughout, the work in the hunt-away being particularly good, whilst very fair work was shown in the heading and also in the driving and yarding competitions. Complete arrangements had been made for the successful conduct of the meeting, which passed off without a hitch. The principal officials wore:—Messrs. L. R. Jones, President; A. F. Bignell, ground marshal]; R. McNair, sheep steward; and C. W. Cross, timekeeper; whilst a special mead of praise is due to the secretnry. Mr. K. Black, and the' treasurer, Mr. M. Elliott.

The following are the results of the competitions decided yesterday: Driving and yarding comnetition, with two dogs; about 300 yards; time allowed; first prize £6, second £3, third £1; maximum points 37: —

F. Lambert's Jack and Tip, 33 pts 1 A. Rolfe's Lady Chief and Fly, 30

pts 2 C. Rigg's Tweed and Darkie, 29 pts 3

Hunt-away, between three sets of flags on a zig-zag course, about 440 yds: time 12 minutes; first £4, second £2, third £1; total, 31 points:—

A. Mack's Glen, 33 pts 1 K. Black's Glen. 32 pts 2 IC. Black's Darkie. 28 pts 3

Hunt-away, head, bring back, and hold in ring; about 440 yards; time allowed 15 minutes; first prize £5, second £2, third £1; maximum points 49:

K. Black's Glen, 39 pts 1 A. Mack's Glen, 38 pts 2 K. Black's Spec. 31 pts 3

On Thursday nighl there was a large attendance in the Awakino Hall at, the annual concert. An excellent programme was giv#n to an appreciative audience, encores -being frequently demanded and acceded to.

Last night the annual hall was held, proving another brilliant success. During an interval the prizes and various cups won were presented.
