EARLY MORNING INCIDENT.
TWO YOUNG MEN ATtRESTEf). When returning home at an early houi yesterday morning some residents of the County side of the Waiwak&iho River noticed two young men coming towards them, one of whom was seen to be carrying something under one arm, which wan dropped on the roadside as the two parties drew near to each other. A member of the party, who knew the two men who were met on the road, stood conversing with them for a little while, and after leaving them went to see what the object was which had been dropped, and found the headless body of a nice fat drake, still w&rm. The body of the drake was taken home, and next morning the head of a drake was found in the poultry yard. The matter was reported to the po» lice, with the result that two young men, who had been fishing in the AVaiwakaiho in that locality on the previous night, were arrested 1)/ Detective Fitzgibbon yesterday afternoon and charged with tlie .offence of stealing the drake.
