GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL.
ANNUAL SWIMMING SPORTS. The annual swimming sports in connection with the New Plymouth Girls' High School took place yesterday at the Mun.eipn) Swimming Baths. Tii3 v.wilier was very warm in the early part of iho day, but became overcast and threatening later in the day. Though rain fell in the afternoon, the sports were over before the change in weather. There was a good attendance of visitors and friends of the girls, and a very enjoyable day's sport was vifnessed.' All the events were keenly contested, and the competitors entered into the contests in splendid spirit, and the successful swimmers were heartily congratulated on their performances. The championships were followed with keen interest, some of the items in these events having been contested prior to yesterday. In the senior sections of the school, Miss D. Brown had a lead of nine points from her nearest opponent, while in the junior events Ruby Aitken was again successful, being 18 points ahead of the next competitorMaijory Hutchen secured the preparatory championship.
