• TARANAKI v. WANGANUI. HOME TEAM'S EASY WIN. (By Telegraph.—Special to Daily News.) Wanganul, Last Night. The representative mutch, Taranakl v. Wanganul, was continued on Cook's Gardens to-day, and after a couple of hours p,ay Wangiinui left the field easy winners by an Innings and 14.'! runs. On the first day Tnranaki had scored .IB and Wanganul replied with 205 for live wickets when play ceased. Wanganul resumed at a few minutes past ten this morning. Klamlres and Staploston, the not out men, carried on the scoring. The former opened out and hit the only six of the match. At 34 he mls-hlt Osborne, and was caught by Treadwell, feilding as a substitute at mld-on. Stapleton was shaping quietly, and Lomas was soon bowled oil his pads. S. London had one hit and was then stumped off Johnston, who bowled consistently throughout the innings. At this stage, with el«ht wickets down for 274, the home side declared. Stapleston being 3D not out. Hnsell and Penny opened for Taranakl, the latter being bowled by Hussey for one. Egglestone and Hasell appeared to be in for a good partnership, both batting freely, when Egglestone was foolishly run out, and the very nest ball Hasell suffered the asm* fate, Marrls returning the ball smartly from cover to Lomas each time. Johnston was the only other batsman to make a stand against Hyder and Harris, carrying his bat for 17. It was unfortunate that the visitors were without Maunsell and Hemingway In their second Innings, which closed for 73. The Taranakl team returned homo this afternoon. WANGANUI.
