ATTEMPTED BURGLARY.

The ITawera Star's Normanby correspondent ptatcs tliat some time on Monday night nil attempt was made to blow up the safe at the railway station, which is also liie Tost Office. The '.tationimisfer reports that lie left everything safe and locked when he fin-i-hoil work on Monday. Yesterday it was discovered that an attempt had been made to fret into the safe. Apparently an explosive had been inserted in tiie lock, and to deaden the sound a bag of bacon had been used. The safe, however, did not yield, and 110 damage was done. So fur, 110 further particulars are available. A detective from Wungamii is investigating the matter.
