LETTER SALARIES WANTED. I!y Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurcii, Last Night. The following resolutions were passed at a meeting of the North Canterbury section of the Post and Telegraph Ofiicers' Association: That this meeting of Christchurcii officers, while duly appreciative of past efforts to improve the status of (he service, is yet quite dissatisfied with the scale of salaries. It considers the maximum salary, compatible with the skilled nature of the work of otlicers of all grades a till the exalted i-ost of livin'j. should be considerably imwaswl. naniciy £7<> increment. We iilso wish emphatically to protest against tlic maximum of £IBO, which is at present allotted to married men, and that the minimum he increased to £225. It considers means to ail'ord this relief to officers should be obtained from an all round .ncrease in charges for the services performed by the department on .behalf of iho public. A fu.ther resolution v/as carried, "That the meeting protests against the salary allotted to temporary employees, viz., 12s per day, for married or single otlicers, and we call upon the Government to increase the wages of all temporary employees to ltis a day.''
