A DASTARDLY THEFT.

PEPPER THROWN BY ASSAILANT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A dastardly theft is reported by an elderly boot-maker carrying on business in the city. On 1 riday last a young man entered his shop and selected a pair of boot-, which were wrapped up for him. The boot-maker had just completed the pareel when the man pulled a tin of pepper from his pocket, the contents in the boot-maker's face, and decamped with the boots. Fortunately for the boot-maker he was wearing glasses, but even so his right eye for the time being was completely blinded.
