A meeting of employees of the railway workshops at liastown to-day passed a series of resolutions drawing attention to the ever increasing cost of living, and deploring the apathy of the Minister in not combating the increased cost, and in the event of no relief being forthcoming to urge the executive to call stop-meetings of protest. Dunedin, Last Night. At a representative meeting of railway officers (Dunedin Branch) the following resolutions were passed unanimously:— "That thin meeting of the Dunedin branch of the Railway Officers' Institute move that a request be sent to the Minister for Railways, through the executive, requesting that the finding of the Wage's Board be treated by Cabinet as au urgent matter, and that a definite reply be announced within a fortnight, and that in the event of no decision being forthcoming within the time specified the executive take immediate ; action in the matter. "That this meeting protests against the Government's action in dealing with the high cost of living, which is pressing unduly on officer* with fixed salaries, and they bo urged that as soon as Parliament assembles to fake steps to prevent a future increase in the cost of the necessnrv commodities of life."
