TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Board was held on Wednesday and Thursday. Present: Messrs. G. H. Billiard (chairman), X. E. Cleland, and J. Heslop. An apology for absence was received from Mr. Ryan. An application by John Hannan to acquire part of the Matiere township was deferred. Applications from Messrs. Kirk and Shooty, re acquiring part section 31, block XT., Mapara, were held over to ascertain if there was a likelihood of the land being required by a dairy company. The following transfers were approved:—Sec. 4, Block XIV., Omona, P. S. Kelly, P. Hill, and A. C. Gower to P. S. Kelly and A. C. Gower; Sec. 13, Block XI., Totoro, R. T. Allen to A. Holden; Sec. 156, T.C., Hoewaka, E. H. Colson to W. H. J. Squire; Sec. 557, Pa tea District, J. H. R. Free to T. Kirk; Sec. 22, Block IV., Carlyle, J. Burrell to C. H. and H. E. Loftus; Sec. 51, Okato District, D. Hk-kford to C. R. and L. R. Wooldridge (subject to guarantee); Sees. 50, 3, Town of Amiapu, H. Woisin to T. H. Price. The application of C. B. Lumsden to transfer Section 1, Block XL, Egmont, to G. 0. Bennett was refused. Two transfers requiring sanction were reported to Wellington. Two mortgages were approved. Payment of thirds on Putikituna Road were authorised. The transfer of part section 21, Block 1, Huiroa, for factory purposes was recommended, subject to conditions. Twenty-two applications for farms for returned soldiers were recommended, 16 refused, 9 adjourned, and one was withdrawn; 18 applications for house property were recommended, and 2 refused; 4 applications for' erection of buildings were recommended; 11 applications for stock, etc., were recommended, and 4 applications for a refund of valuation fees on previous unsuccessful applications were recommended. An application for a transfer of onethird interest in Section 1, Block XIV., Waitara, was recommended..
