A -successful concert and dance was held at Tututawa Hall in aid of the Stratford X-ray fcmd on Thursday evening,'the proceeds of which will help to swell the £25 already raised in the district. Several Stratford performers assisted in the entertainment. Mr. Gordon Mc.Mahon received the sad news to-day of the death of his brother Andrew, who left here some eight years back to reside in Auckland. He was about 47 years of age, and leaves a widow and five children, for whom much sympathy is felt. For failure to clear ragwort off hie property, Herman Ringer was to-dav fined £lO and costs by the S.M. For a similar o-Tence Hector Gray was fined Ms and costs. A meeting of delegates to the district board of the Druids Lodge met here yesterday, those present being:—Messrs Ewens (Waitara), Blanchard (New Plymouth). Lamb and Hellier (Inglewood). J. Jones (Stratford), Davis (Elthanih Longstaif and Warcup (Hawera). President Warev.n occupied the chair, supported by Vice-President Ewens. The principal business, remits to Grand Lodse, rvt'Hed in lengthy discussions. Messrs Lamb (Inglewood) and Jones ,'*ir.atford) were appointed delegates to the Grand Lodge. Reserved judgment was delivered today by Mr. T. A. B. Bailey, S M., in the ease of Meuli v. .Tai=. Stanford, on claim for .C2«> for removal of fencing and t-esnass bv cattle.
