The combined committee; of the Seaside Society and School Committee- (of which he was secretary) are tendering Mr. Arm. and family a farewell social, and making presentations oil Friday evening. Mr. Frank Hoskin succeeds Mr. Arms as secretary of the School Committee, and Mr. Bird of tile Seaside Committee. At a meeting on Tuesday evening of the Soldiers' and Civilians' Club, the canvassers gave very encouraging reports of the way subscriptions were coming in. It has been decided to hold a sports meeting in aid of the proposed | Club on either Easter Saturday or Monday. The following committee has been set up to carry out the necessary arrangements .—Mesdames Teifar, Proctor, Spurdle, Young, Trim, Brough, Misses Purdie* Jenkins, Messrs. JCine, Garth, Fowler, G. N. and G. D. Skelton, A. Lash, W. Teifar, A. Hawkins, Edwin, T. Taytlor,, W. Proctor, W. H. Noswortliy, and J. R, Bennett. Mr. Bennett yas elected secretary. Messrs. R. Tate and G. N. Skelton were empowered to draw up a programme and submit to a meeting to be held later. The s.s. Wetere returned from Pupongft on Wednesday evening with coal for Borthwick's. It is a number of years since coal was unloaded over the wharf. One would like to see the old times return when the wharf was busy every day in the week. The Seaside Society are holding a monster picnic this month, in connection with the Tabor Shield Competition.
