THE HOLIDAY QUEEN.
THE CROWNING' CEREMONY. The coronation' of tfche successful Holiday Queen, in connection with the East End Carnival, took place at the East End Reserve yesterday afternoon, when Miss Claudia Weston (the Ngamotu Queen) was installed into her royal office with, all due ceremony. The motor cam with the two Holiday Queens (Misses Claudia Weston and Lilia •BeUnnger) aud their attendants arrived at the East End punctually at three o'clock. The Queen, mounted the royal dais, which had been erected between the hand rotunda and the main building, Which was beflagged and prettily decorated with greenery. Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., made a few introductory remarks, in the course of which he congratulated •the two Queens and their energetic committees on the splendid result achieved; and the friendly spirit of rivalry that prevailed throughout. Mr. Smith mentioned that by means of the Queen contest the Ngamotu Seaside Committee would benelit by £230, and the East End Bathing Reserve by £l7O. Mr. Smith then, amidsfc applause, placed beautiful floral crowns upon the heads J of the two Queens. ; Mr. J. W. Hayden (Ngamotu) and j Mr. ,T. Roberts (East End) thanked the I public, on behalf of their respective committees, for the support so freely given throughout the contest. Mr. Hayden then presented Miss Weston with a gold! wristlet watch in honour of the occasion. Mr. Roberts announced! that, a; social would be tendered Mi3s BelMnger- at an; early date for her willingness to- come: forward 1 as the- East End Holiday Queein.
