The deadlock in the shipping strike continues and the engineers are making preparations for a prolonged struggle. Adelaide, Jan. 29. As the result of the coal shortage caused by the shipping strike the Government Was imposed restrictions on the use of gas similar to those in force during the seamen's strike. Received Jan. 30, 12.40 a.m. Sydney, Jan. 20. At Mr. W. M. Hughes' suggestion, representatives of the marine engineers meet at Sydney on Saturday to discuss whether they will take another ballot on the terms previously ballotted on.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn,
