WAITARA LIQUOR CASES.
RESERVED JUDGMENT, Iu the Magistrate's Court yesterday, Mr. T. A .B. Bailey, S.M., gave his reserved decision in the cases against Albert E. Julian, licensee of the Masonic Hotel, Waitora, in which he was charged with nob making proper entries in a book kept for the purpose of liquor sold for delivery in a prohibition area, and with selling without a signed order for the purchaser as to the liquor being for delivery in a proclaimed area. There were also charges of selling during hours when his licensed premises were required to be closed. The Magistrate remarked that though Rattenbury (to whom the liquor was sold) had been spemdiing a holiday in the hotel, he could scarcely believe that as he purchased a case of whiskey just at the termination of his holiday that it was for any other purpose than to take away with hint Defendant should, therefore, have satisfied himself with regard to the destination of the liquor. He, therefore, entered a conviction on that charge and imposed a fine of £lO. The other informations Were dismissed. Sub-Inspector Hutton appeared for the prosecution, and Mr. Roland H, Quilliam fof defendant.
