ATTACK ON (POLICE BARRACKS. SOME ARRESTS MADE. By Telegr'iph.—Press Assn.—Copyrlßnt. London, Jan. EG. Fifty men made a desperate attempt to capture the police barracks at Baltinglass. A constable opened the door in response to a knock and a revolver bullet from the opposite side of the street lodged in his spine. The victim died. After an exchange of shots the raiders were dispersed and seven arrested. Air. Henderson/ speaking at Dublin, said that unless the Irish problem was speedily solved he gravely feared that the question would settle itself on unconstitutional lines.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Association. London, Jan. 24. Masked men entered the house of Timothy Mangan, near Killorglin, Country Kerry, beat him mercilessly and cut off his ears. When his wife tried to save her husband one of his assailants cut off part of the wife's hand. No arrests have been made.
