THE CATHOLIC BAZAAR.

A SUCCESSFUL CONCERT. A splendid .concert i.a aid of the Convent candidate at the Catholic Bazaar was held in the Workers' Social Hall last night. There was a large audience, and a thoroughly enjoyable entertainment was provided. The stage was tastefully decorated by Mrs. J. Nolan and Miss E. Hurley and presented a very attractive appearance. , Variety was the keynote of the programme and the many entertaining items were all encored, some performers being recalled two or three times. The programme opened with selections by a well balanced orchestra of nine players under the conductorship of Mr. Hennie. Mr. Lambert sang "When the Dream is There," and he had to respond' to an insistent encore. An action song by a number of pupils from the Convent was particularly bright, And the children were deservedly encored for their work. A duet by the Misses Langman was thoroughly enjoyed, and a touch of variety to the musical items was lent by an Irish jig, cleverly performed by Convent pupils. A fine gift of elocution was revealed by Mr. H. Hartman in an effective interpretation of the poem, "The Hell Gate of Soissons," and he was three times brought back by an enthusiastic audience. The first part of the programme concluded with a beautiful tableau, "The Rose of No Man's Land," by Misses D. Barry and (i. Hurley. Miss B. Allen opened the remainder of the programme with a pianoforte solo. All the items which followed were encored, some recalls having to be repeated, and they were: Song, "My Old Shakoo," Mr Foley; highland fling, Miss and Master McHardy; song, "I'll sing to you," Miss Fairweather; banjjo solo, "Coon Town Breezes," Mr. New; song, "The Heart of a Rose," Mifs G. Hurley; song, "The Bells of St. Mary's," Mr. Lambert; recitation, "The Yukon Trail," Mr. Hartman; farce, "The Minister's Mistake," Misses M. Barry, B. Allen, Mr. Powell. The accompaniments for the vocal items were played by Miss B. Allen and i Miss Fairweather (2). The piano was kindly lent by Mr. Collier.
