WAR SCANDAL.
MUNITIONS HELD UP. REVELATIONS IN PARIS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. , Received Jan. 26, 10.35 p.m. London, Jan. 22. The Paris correspondent of the Daily Chronicle states that a remarkable war scandal has been disclosed, in which a number of leading manufacturers are implicated. It is alleged they defrauded the State of important stocks of iron and steel intended for munitions, which the Government ordered early, a half of which were only delivered. When inquiries were made it was discovered the shortage was due to fraud. The account books of various Paris factories were seized with a view to prosecutions.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
