Lodge (Leader of the Republicans in the Senate) has announced that the compromise conference has reached a virtual agreement on Clause 10, It is now felt many difficulties attendant on affecting a compromise will quickly disappear, since the major problems are solved. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. New York, Jan. 22. The Washington correspondent of the New York Times states that the Treaty conference of the Democrats and Republicans has virtually reached a deadlock on Article 10. Many Senators have expressed a fear that it will be impossible to reach an agreement. The conference adjourned after a long sitting without reaching a decision.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
