UNIVERSITY SENATE.

THE SITTING AT DUNEDIN. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. At the University Senate Professor Wall moved that in the M.A. and M.Sc. degrees, honors be not awarded if the degree is obtained more than six years after matriculation. Professor Maemillan Brown moved an addition, by way of amendment, viz., that the Chancellor have discretion in the case of illness to extend the period for one year. The amendment was lost, and the motion was carried by 11 votes to 8. The matter* was referred to the Statutes Committee. It was resolved that the matter of concessions to entrance scholars, and the question of awarding distinction or some form of honors at the B.A. stage be referred to the principals of secondary schools and to the Professorial Boards for a report to the Board of Studies and the Senate, and that Mr. Tibbs be. invited to draw up a memorandum on the subject, to be circulated to those bodies.
