IRELAND.
ANOTHER SINN FEIN OUTRAGE. By Telegraph.—Press ASsn.—Copyright. London, Jan. 13. Sinn Feiners with revolvers held up ■six motors and several horse carriages conveying guests to a ball at Kilrush Hall, near Kilkenny. Men and women in ball dresses were compelled to alight and take their places in a field, while the cars were overturned and the engines damaged beyond repair. Some of the drivers refused to stop when they were challenged and shots were fired.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
SIR J. BYRNE'S DISMISSAL. London, Jan. 1. The Daily Telegraph's Dublin correspondent denies the report that Sir Joseph Byrne solely -was removed from the position of Inspector-General of Constabulary by the action of the Dublin Oastle authorities. On the contrary, the whole question was carefully deliberated by the Government. It is understood both Mr. Lloyd George and Mr. Boiiar Law fully agreed with the Irish executive that there must be a new In-spector-General. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
