LABOR IN GERMANY.
DISLOCATION OP INDUSTRY. By Telegraph.—-Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Jan. 16, 9.5 p.m. ' Berlin, Jan. 15. There is a strike of miners in the Hauborn district, in the Ruhr region. They demand a six-hour day and better food. After rioting throughout the day, a mob stormed the Town Hall, seizing arms. The disturbances later spread to other* districts. Owing to the railway strike, half a million tons of coal for Berlin is held up. The interruption in coal production threatens to paralyse the entire Rhenish and Westphalian industrial regions. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
INDUSTRIAL COUNCIL'S BILL. Berlin, Jan. 13. The Extremists summoned their supporters to make a demonstration in the Reichstag against the Industrial Council's Bill. A great crowd assembled bearing placards and carving red flags. Troops in armored cars with machineguns surrounded the Reichstag. The mob defied the orders prohibiting approach to the building, rushed the troops, and attempted to capture the machineguns. The troops fired, killing and wounding several people. Many strikes have already occurred against the Bill, notably at Hamborn, Where a mob invaded the Town Hall and destroyed the archives, and also plundered shops. A conference of Labor Councils is submitting a Bill to the 'Government under wMeh the councils will assume control of the internal organisation of industry. They gave the Government until January 15 to accept the Bill, otherwise they Will call a general strike throughout Germany.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
