Hughes to-day. They announce that the conference will be resumed early next week. The men are hopeful of an early settlement. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. OTHER WORKERS IDLE. Sydney, Jan. 10. The Government has decided to assist the watersiders and transport workers who are idle as a result of the strike. Three engineers of the steamer Eastern who were charged with refusing to proceed to sea proved that their refusal was due to medical reasons. The eases were dismissed.
