The result o fthe ballot ofr the Cheviot runa offered to returned soldiers is as follows:—Section 1, 695 acres, capital value £5020, Frederick Charles Detain' bert, sheepowner, Timaru; section 2, 514 acres, capital value £4420, Captain William James Rodger, Christchurch; section 3, 2000 acres, capital value £13,020, DonSlid Williamson Smith, afrmer Ashburton. There were 631 applicants.
