THE PRICE OF TOBACCO.
NO NEWS OF REPORTED INCREASE, The New Plymouth agents for tie company controlling the leading brand* of tobaccos and cigarettes on sale in New* Zealand have received a telegram from their principals, stating that they had re* ceived no information from their head office with reference to the reported Interßase in prices. Stockß are at present low, but the position with regard to arrivals during the ensuing month is hopjful. It was reported from Melbourne soma days ago that the prices of tobacco, cigars, and cigarettes would shortly be raised as much as a hundred per cent.
