STEAMER FROM NEW YORK.

COMING TO NEW PLYMOUTH. The steamer Lorain is scheduled to leave New York this month tor Auckland, Wellington, New Plymouth, and Wauganui. The vessel, which is running under the U.S. and A. Line, is a fairly large cargo steamer. Her visit to New Plymouth will be of interest, for steamers from New York have not been frequent visitors to the port. Inquiries made by a News representative last night failed to provide any knowledge of the vessel amongst local importers. One merchant stated that he had recently been in communication with the Vacuum Oil Company in reference to getting a cargo of benzine brought to New Plymouth from America, and he thought it was probable the Lorain had been chartered for this purpose.
