A CRIMINAL'S PLEA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Dec. 26, 12.20 a.m. Berlin, Dec. 22. Victor Sander, alias von Schenk, charged with burglaTy in 1918, pleaded that he was well supplied with money as an English spy, and therefore had not a motive for the theft. He said he was born in Bendigo. His father was a German-Australian and his mother English. His duties as a spy were to persuade men on leave not to return to the front, furnishing them with the necessary papers. The case was remitted to another court, owing to doubts regarding his identity.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
