DROUGHT IN AUSTRALIA.
RAIN IN THE EAST. By Telegraph.—Press Assn Copyrlslit. Sydney, Dec. 3. Further heavy rains have fallen in the eastern part of the State and there are indications of an extension of the rain to the far west. ! The Government meteorologist states that he has reason to believe that the drought will be broken this month and that it will be followed by good supplementary rains. Rains of a monsoonal character of over six inches have fallen in some coastal districts. In a few dry areas over two inches have fallen and, in the wheat areas, with few exceptions, there have been good falls, but the crops will not benefit to the same extent as if the rain had been weeks earlier.
