BOLSHEVIK HORRORS.
RELIGIOUS PERSECUTIONS. CRUELTY TO PRIESTS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 30, 5.5 p.m. London, Nov. 20. Deniken's recent reports show an astonishing record of religious persecutions under the Bolshevik regime. Many orthodox clergy were martyred, some were beaten to death with ramrods, another was stripped naked and placed before an open grave. When he made the Bign of the cross, the executioner cut off his right hand. The body was not buried, and dogs ate it piecemeal. Hardly a priest escaped beating or arrest. No baptisms, burials, or weddings Were allowed without Bolshevik permission. The Red Army men always referred to the Virgin Mary with blasphemy and obscenity. They broke up church services, sang indecent hymns and songs, destroying ikons, and using sacred vestments as horse-covers.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn-
