BUTCHERS ON STRIKE.

A SETTLEMENT NO NEARER. ANOTHER ABORTIVE CONFERENCE By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The butchers' strike.is no nearer a settlement, the conference between the employers and the men, with the Conciliation Commissioner as chairman, which was resumed to-day, proving abortive. It was announced at the meeting that the master butchers must uphold the Arbitration Court's award. They could not see their way to go back on it in the slightest degree. The Union representatives indicated that this being the case, it was useless for them to say more. The Commissioner said he was disappointed that the employers had not come, to a decision. After a. heated exchange between some of the disputants; and further discussion, the conference ended."
