Field Marshal Lord Allenby (the High Commissioner) ordered three of the Laghlul leaders to cease agitation, and two to leave Cairo. All refused and were arrested.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. [The London Daily Chronicle states that the Government intends to deal firmly with the Egyptian situation, and will not be intimidated by extremists. The gravity of the recent disorders is recognised, but a considerable section of the inhabitants strongly disapproves of the actions of the (extremists, which were fostered by alien agitators. The Home Government will support Lord Allenby's firm stand. The view is held | that the Egyptians are suffering from nerves, owing to the war, especially the large illiterate section, and thus provide excellent material for agitators.]
