TIIE BUTCHERS* DISPUTE, By Telegraph— Pres» Aasooiatlpi. Wellington, Nov. 18.. , The hearing of the dispute between the Wellington Co-operative Butchers' Union and their employers was resumed' to-day before the Conciliation Commission. Mr. Newton, the commissioner, said that since last meeting complete settlements had been reached in Palmerston North, Napier, Hawke's Bay, and the Wairarapa, and it would be a pity if the unity of the districts were impaired by a failure to agree in the Wellington area, for the employers it was claimed by Mr. Barber that meat was being sold in Wellington at lower rates than either in Masterton or Palmerston North. He was prepared to pay the first shopman £4 10s, a kit minimum for general hands was £3 lss, and for a second shopman he suggested <fc*4 Zs (icl. After further discussion, it wa9 decided to leave the question of hours and wages to the court. Casual rates and hoys' w u"os were agreed to in the coun.try award, also a bonus of 2s 6d a week for hoys passing Technical School exams, in butchery 'technique, and one week's holiday on full pay. ' Later. As further progress was impossible it was decided to refer hours and wages to the Court for settlement. Several matters were agreed on. It was decided that a worker should be entitled, upon completion of eaoh year of Hervice, either to a week's holiday on full pay or a week's wages k> lieu of a holiday. • It was agreed that youths' wages Should betYouths, 17 years, £1 17s 6d a week; 17 to 18. years, £1 12s Gd; IS to 19 years, £2 2s (id; 19 to 21 years, £2 15a.
