NEW INDUSTRIAL BILL. standardisation of wages. By Telegraph.—Pre3s Assn.—Copyrlsht, Received Nov. 13, 1.5 a.m. London, Nov. 10. In the House of Commons debate on the Industrial Courts Bill there were strong Labor speeches in favor of dividing the Bill into two parts with the ostensible object, of consulting the trades unions on the subject of conciliation tribunals. Wliilo accepting the proposals for standardising wages Sir Robert Home (Minister for Labor) refused to accept an amnendment declaring that the standardisation of wages depended on the trades unions' acceptance of tribunals. The Lahoriteß insisted on a division, and the amendment was defeated by 204 Votes to 40. —Aus-N.Z. Cable Assn. FOUR BY-ELECTIONS. LADY ASTOR : S SPIRITED FIGHT . Received Nov. 12, 11.25 p.m. London, Nov. 11. Vigorous election campaigns are pro: ceeding at Chesterle Street, Croydon, Tha.net, and Plymouth. Lady Aster's spirited fight in a three-cornered contest at Plymouth, is attracting the principal attention. Her ladyship's unconventional methods and keen sense of humor are producing lively scenes. She has already received tie Premier's good wishes. A National Democratic candidate is challenging a Laborite at Chesterle Street, but there is a straight light on party lines at Croydon and Thanet between Conservative Coalitionists and Independent Liberals. —Aus.-N.Z.
