MILD INFLUENZA.

AN OUTBREAK IN WELLINGTON.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Xight. A mild type of influenza which in some cases is accompanied by gastric trouble is attacking many people in Wellington just now. A medical practitioner informed a reporter to-day that he had encountered a good many cases of this nature. The victims of tjie complaint suffered from bronchial catarrh and coughing, and the temperature in some instances reached as high as 102 and 103 degrees. This form of the disease was more or less always present in the community, but he did not know it to be so prevalent as now. There was nothing very dangerous about the sickness if care was exercised ftnd patients remained in bed until recovery was effected, but by neglecting ordinary precautions there was a great risk that pneumonic symptoms would supervene.

Dr. Watt, the district health officer, said to-day that there was no need for the public to become alarmed. The evidence pointed to the position being well in hand and it did not look as if there would be a recrudescence of the epidemic this year, but he advised people pkould not precautious
