An inquest on the wife of Detective Black, who was knocked down by a taxicab on November 6 and killed, Was held before Mr. W. G. Riddell, Coroner, today. In giving his verdict the Coroner said tne weight of evidence went to show the car was travelling at a fairly high rate j The . driver stated he sounded his horn twice and also slowed down his speed. However, the weight of evidence was against that, and he must accept the evidence of independent witnesses who stated the car did not slacken its speed. The driver of the car ako Stated that the accident was due to deceased going forward, then back and forward a {rain, but other witnesses had stated Mrs. Black continued on her way. and the weight of evidence was against the driver on this point also.
