BOWLING.
PATEA OPENS THE SEASON; The formal opening of the Patea Club's green for the season took place last Wednesday. The president, Mr. J. J. Holtham, welcomed the visitors, regretting the unfavorable weather conditions, and eulogising the services of those members who rallied to the flag. Mrs. Holtham threw the jack, and the green was declared open, afternoon tea being subsequently dispensed, the tables being prettily decorated by Miss Hamerton. The usual match between the president's and vice-president's teams resulted in a win for the former.
