TWO CANDIDATES NOMINATED. Nominations for the position of Mayor of New Plymouth closed yesterday with the returning officer (Mr. K. Day). Mr. Jas. Clarke, a councillor, •and chairman of the electric light and tramways committee, and Mr. Geo. Blanchard have been nominated, and the election is fixed to take place on Wednesday next. Mr. Clarke has been nominated by Messrs. F. II Jackson, J. McLeod, J. W •Hay,den, E. Whittle, C. H. Burgess, J. McNeil, and Mr. Blanchard has been nominated by Mrs Elizabeth Pearn and Mr. W. ]R. Mclsaac,
