GOVERNMENT BONUS WANTED.

Wellington, Last Night. A request for a bonus for the manufaoture of pig iron in this country was made to the Government by Mr. S. G Smith in the House tojday. Mr. Smith said that the term for the bonus provided for by Parliament has expired in December, 1916, and he asked that this time should be extended in the interests of the company in Taranaki, which had been struggling against adversity throughout the war period, Mr. Massey said that the question was one for consideration by Cabinet, and he would ask the Minister for Mines to see that the question was brought before Cabinet,
