The Rome correspondent of the Daily Chronicle states that an Italian inventor has submitted to the State railways a new system for compressing air, enabling storage in huge tanks and the transference of the air to locomotives, superseding steam and electricity. It has claims for speed and economy, and has added advantages in that the existing locomotives may be used.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
