NEW PLYMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.
ADJOURNED MEETING. The adjourned meeting of the Borough Council was continued last night. The Mayor (Mr C. H. Burgess) presided, and there were present: Councillors J. W. Hayden, F. J. Hill, W. F. Short, A. S. Brooker, R. L. Parkin, J. Clarke, and V. Griffiths. H. Bruce wrote asking the council to share the cost with him of erecting a concrete fence between his section in I Dawson and Downe streets. He also asked for the proper levels of the street The engineer reported against sharing the cost of a concrete side fence. * It was decided to send a copy of the engineer's letter to Mr Bruce. K. Griffiths wrote stating he was desirous of erecting two dwellings in Rirmt Street, frontage to each being 72 Gin. He proposed leaving an entrance 20 feet wide to about 1£ acres at the rear of the two sections, which would eventually be sub-divided, and asked if the sub-division would meet with the council's approval. The engineer pointed out, in a report on the application, that the rear allotments would not have 40 feet frontage to a street and therefore the sub-division was not in accord with the by-laws. The matter was referred to the Streets Sub-committee. K. S. Breach wrote asking for the Poti stream in Leach Street be piped in In two places twelve feet wide, to give access to two dwellings each, which were to be erected immediately. He offered to do the necessary filling on his side of the culverts. The engineer estimated the work would cost £!)3 19s 3d. The matter was referred to the Streets Sub-committee, with power to act.
