THE COAL QUESTION.
POSITION AT KIKIPAKA, By Telegraph.—Pre93 Association. Auckland, Last Night. Mr. Holgate, managing director of the Northern Coa! Company, was aßked thi3 morning how long it was proposed to keep the Kiripaka mine idle. He replied: ''lt is quite impossible to say at present, but the directors have decided not to reopen the mine again until the whole labor trouble is settled. Meanwhile, we are endeavoring to obtain freights for our boats to prevent them lying idle. Including the miners' staff and officers and crew of the boats, about 100 men are affected by ceasing operations at this mine.
