REPATRIATION OF SOLDIERS.
GOOD WORK BY THE DEPARTMENT. (By Wire.—Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Last Night. The report of the Repatriation Department was presented to the House of Representatives to-day. It states that on Angus* 20 the number of men oil the unemployment sustenance list for the Dominion was only 17, out of a total number of 8(i,309 returned soldiers. Over 1000 returned men are beftig trained in workshops, factories, vocational training in technical schools, and special classes have been arranged for 557 men. At present US men are being assisted to learn professions. Over HO men have been trained at the Ruakura State farm, and about SO men are at present receiving instruction. The number of loans approved up to August 20 was 1178, involving an expenditure of .£2O-1,849. "The Department," says the report, " is honestly doing its best in the interests of the discharged soldiers. There is no camouflage, and each applicant for assistance is sympathetically dealt with."
