Mr. A. Hansen has just been granted three months' leave of absence by the Waimate West County Council, where he is employed as> engineer, because of illhealth. Mr and Mrs T. R. Hughes, of the Grand Central C'olTee Palace, New Plymouth, have received word that their son. Corporal W, Hughes, N.Z.M.C., is returning home by the Remuera, which is clue at Wellington about October 27. Tiiere are three nominations for the vacancy 011 the Taranaki Education Beard (jaused by the resignation of Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., member for the South Ward. They are those of Messrs. 1. J. Bridger (Elthamj, Lees (Okaiawa), and R. Hick* (Mokoia). The election takes place on Tuesday the 30th. ilist.
